Our Services

Sturgeon Victim Services provides support, information and referral services to victims of crime at times of crisis. We can provide information on the status of a police file, the court process and case disposition, along with the Victims of Crime Program, police procedures, community resources, compensation application procedures and whatever else may be required by the victim.

We also focus on prevention of further victimization through education of crime prevention techniques and provide encouragement to the victim. Victim Services also promotes a wraparound approach between the RCMP, the Court System and the victim so that effective communication ensues. Support and information is provided by well trained volunteers able to maintain the integrity of the program and ensure confidentiality for all contacts with police, victims and the public at large.

Court Facility Dog

In 2018 we welcomed Hope, a yellow Labrador to our team. Hope is a Dogs with Wings certified Court Facility Dog. Hope's primary role is to support victims at the RCMP Detachment in Morinville, Alberta and at court in Morinville and Queen's Bench in Edmonton. In 2019, Hope supported 60 children. We attend schools, community groups of all ages to spread awareness in our community of the services we provide.

We host many wonderful community events and fundraisers such as the Annual Charity Golf Tournament, Casino Fundraiser, Annual Charity Court Dog Run and community barbeques and parades.
